Born in Port Kembla, Dylan Benjamin Bolt currently resides in Chatsworth, New South Wales. After earning a diploma in fine arts from Lismore TAFE, Dylan went on to Southern Cross University to earn a bachelor’s degree in visual arts. The ocean and Dylan's relationship to it are central to his current practice. Rückenfigur, which translates to "figure from the back," is a technique from German Romanticism from the 19th century that Dylan has modified to include aquatic animals.  Dylan's primary goal is to emphasise the value of protecting the ocean's ecology and animals. Dylan uses oleogel as the medium for his oil paintings. Dylan's newest piece for this exhibition explores his thoughts on everything from everyday distractions to marine life conservation to the ocean as an experience.
