Tamara Mendels completed her Masters in Fine Arts through the University of Sydney (SCA) in 2011. Graduating with First Class Honours she was awarded the Fauvette Loureiro Travelling Art Scholarship.
She co-founded and directed the Jon Frum Art Foundation in New York and Los Angeles (2008-2012), a gallery dedicated to exhibiting emerging Australian Artists alongside their New York contemporaries. Mendels co-organised Sydney’s first 2020 Art Shows from 2011 to 2012, providing a rare platform for emerging and established artists to exhibit for one night only.
Her work has been exhibited in Commercial Galleries, Art Spaces, Public and Private Institutions including; M-Contemporary, Vandal Gallery, Lost Bear Gallery, Art Pharmacy, Damien Minton Annex Space, FX Art, Deloitte, The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and recently a site-specific Art Column at The Broadway Shopping Centre, Ultimo. Internationally, Mendels has exhibited throughout the USA in solo and group exhibitions and in numerous art fairs with Catinca Tabacaru Gallery NY.
Tamara’s work is featured in Architecture Australia Magazine, 360 West Magazine USA, The Art Life, The Daily Telegraph, Sydney Morning Herald, Dig in a Mag, and The Observer. Mendels has shared her insights and artistic process as a guest on The Right Space Podcast and Bay FM’s Art Canvas.
