Professional artist Karena Wynn-Moylan delves into the medium of watercolour painting in this one-day immersive workshop at Ignite Studios. Suitable for those just starting out as well as more experienced artists looking to extend their control and knowledge of the medium, a range of techniques and processes will be covered including: a review of basic tools, materials and techniques; drawing; washes; colour mixing; composition; tone; form; developing texture; working wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry; working from photographs vs from live objects; single subjects and common problems (such as clouds, water and flowers); and specialist techniques such as hairdryer work, masking fluid and spraying.
Students will have the opportunity to explore a range of styles and are welcome to bring any challenges they may be facing in their personal practice for analysis and support from Karena.
All tools and materials provided, including a range of paint charts, material lists and books of interest for participants to enjoy. Participants are also welcomed to bring their own tools and materials they may wish to work with.
This workshop will include a short break for lunch. Participants are invited to bring their own lunch, or are welcome to eat at the Gallery Café located next door to Ignite Studios. Advance bookings are essential via the link below, or by phoning the Gallery on 02 6681 0530.
Karena Wynn-Moylan is a professional artist, author, musician, filmmaker and broadcaster. Her exhibition Understories: Things Fallen was on display at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in early 2023.
BOOKING TERMS
In case of cancellation, NRCG will only provide a refund if we can successfully offer your place to a participant on our waiting list. In this case, the workshop cost, less a booking fee of 5%, will be provided, once the replacement student has paid in full. This is at the full discretion of the NRCG team.
In the case of class cancellation by NRCG, a full refund will be provided to all participants.
