Weaving Circle II | Jugan Dandii
Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 June 2023
Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm (both days)
Where: Ignite Studios 60 Crane Street, Ballina
Ages: 16+
Cost: $235
Join Tania Marlowe and Deb Cole from Jugan Dandii for a relaxed weekend exploring traditional and contemporary weaving techniques. Learn multiple variations of coil basketry to construct functional and/or sculptural baskets or apply these techniques to create wearable art or wall pieces.
This weekend immersion will give participants a chance to deepen their awareness and knowledge as we weave together to connect with country, community and culture, and Tania and Deb share their experience harvesting and processing local plant fibres – both endemic native species and common introduced species used in contemporary fibre weaving.
These workshops are suitable for both entry level and more experienced weavers or craft practitioners.
All materials are provided, and advance bookings are required via the ticketing link below, or by phoning the Gallery on 02 6681 0530.
Jugan Dandii is a local weaving collective comprising Bundjalung Nyangbal woman Tania Marlowe, and Debra Cole. They were recognised for their contribution to arts & culture in the Ballina Shire Region with an Australia Day Award in January 2023.
