Where: Ignite Studios, 60 Crane Street, Ballina

Join Bundjalung Nyangbal weaver Tania Marlowe for a series of weaving circles this July, as part of an upcoming Ballina Shire Council public art project. Assisted by local weaver Debra Cole, collaborating as Jugan Dandii - Embrace the Earth, these three community weaving sessions will be offered to share traditionally inspired contemporary weaving within a cultural context. Using natural plant fibres and sustainable materials, participants will learn simple weaving techniques to create forms and symbols that represent relationship to country, respect for country, and caring for country. Some knowledge and use of local plant fibres will be included in the sessions, and the final pieces made by participants will form part of a larger collaborative sculptural work to be installed on public display.
Please note:
These workshops are free, and all materials are provided but places are limited and bookings are essential. If you have booked but can no longer attend, please let us know so that we can give your place to someone on our waiting list.
