
Ignite Ceramics Throwing Studio
Ignite Ceramics Throwing Studio is a 6-wheel community facility available for hire by studio members for independent work, or by experienced ceramicists wishing to run workshops. The studio is a self-managed space, and prior experience on the wheel is required, to ensure the space is kept safe, clean and well maintained for all users. Workshops covering introduction to the wheel, safety and studio practices will be run throughout 2026.
Use of the Ignite Ceramics Throwing Studio is for approved members only. Membership is free.

Thursday and Friday | Closed public holidays.
Morning Session: 9.30am - 12.30pm | Afternoon Session: 1pm - 4pm
Individual hires outside of our regular operating hours by experienced ceramicists may be considered by approval.

THROWING STUDIO MEMBERSHIP
Independent studio use is for members only. To become a member you must have basic experience with wheel throwing, and knowledge of studio safety, cleaning procedures and studio etiquette. Membership is free.
To Become A Member:
Step 1: Complete a membership application via online form below. If you have sufficient prior experience with ceramics, we will approve your application and invite you to attend a studio induction.
Step 2: Complete an in-person studio induction. You will receive a tour of the facility, review the Studio User Handbook, Code of Conduct, Terms & Conditions of Use, health, safety and emergency policies and procedures, and we will answer any questions you have.
Step 3: Upon completion of the studio induction, we will confirm your membership. You are now eligible to book independent sessions in the studio via the bookings page.
Please Note:
- If you have no prior ceramics experience, we will not approve your membership (unless you are a carer or parent of an approved member). You may reapply for membership after attending an introduction to the wheel workshop at Ignite Ceramics or with another studio.
- If you do not have sufficient ceramics experience to qualify for membership, we will notify you of upcoming introductory workshops where you learn the skills required to reapply for membership.
- Support workers or parents/guardians accompanying studio users, are required to apply for Studio Membership and complete a studio induction.
THROWING STUDIO HIRE RATES
All prices inclusive of GST, and plus booking fee. Rates are subject to annual review by Ballina Shire Council.

| Full Studio - 6 wheels (3 hrs) | $120 |
| Full Studio - 6 wheels (full day) - access by arrangement | $500 |
