Emily Imeson | Experienced Landscapes II
7 March - 1 April 2018
Experienced Landscapes II is an exhibition of 9 large paintings of regional NSW. The paintings are developed from referencing en plein air paintings and sketches made on journeys taken into the landscapes around NSW.
Intrigued by the diversity of environments throughout regional NSW, the artist has developed a body of work in response to travelling to the Murrumbidgee River, Euroley, Cresent Head, Minidee Lakes, Broken Hill, Fowlers Gap, White Cliffs, Wilcannia, and Lightning Ridge to gain inspiration for Experienced Landscapes II. The paintings are a combination of acrylic, oil paint, sand, and pigments collected during the artists’ travels throughout regional NSW.
The production and presentation of this exhibition is part of a professional development project supported by Create NSW. After receiving a Young Regional Artist Scholarship in November 2016, Emily completed the same process of travelling into the land and documenting it to produce 11 paintings for the exhibition, Experienced Landscapes, at the Lone Goat Gallery in July 2017. Experienced Landscapes II will present the second half of findings from this scholarship.
Experienced Landscapes is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
Launch Event: Thursday 8 March 5.30pm - 7.30pm
