Ballina Art Society  |  Innovations and Perceptions

1 - 26 February 2017

The Ballina Art Society (BAS), formerly known as the 'Ballina and District Art Club', was established in 1972. Since that time yearly art exhibitions have been held, enabling members to display their art to the public. The first exhibition was held in February 1973.

Since the opening of the Northern Rivers Community Gallery we have exhibitied every second year at this venue, as well as, our large annual exhibition. Our group is varied in style and technique; no two painters are alike.

BAS is an incorporated group of over sixty people, consisting of a mixture of working people and retired folk with a commitment to art and/or a keen interest to learn and develop skills. They meet every Thursday during term time at Ballina Scout Hall.

Over a span of 45 years, the Society has provided artists with the opportunity for continued personal development through instructional tutorials conducted by experienced tutors. Not only do the range of tutors and mediums improve the quality of the art, but it's also fun along the way. It is a most satisfying experience for a member to grow in skills and confidence as they improve in their painting and ability. Many works in this exhibition are from people who started as absolute beginners and have now gained the confidence to exhibit their work.

 Launch Event: Thursday 2 February  |  5.30pm - 7:30pm
