Kerry Elias-Moore | Blow Up the Remix
28 September - 23 October 2016
Captured in freeze frame, Kerry Elias-Moore’s paintings of movie stills from the 1960’s cult movie, ‘Blow-up’, show a remix of selected scenes in a storyboard arrangement. The artist presents these works as homage to the director, Michelangelo Antonioni and seeks to retain the painterly qualities his films are known for. Blow-up is set in London and follows a young photographer, David Hemmings through an enigmatic journey of mystery and suspense, truth and lies. In the act of selecting, pausing, photographing and then painting the film, the artist has made the images more compelling, and invites the audience to construct their own story and open up a new narrative.
