Ben Wyeth  |  Pandanus Dreaming

20 July - 28 August 2016

As seen through the eyes of an outsider, who has spent less than two years living in this region, Pandanus Dreaming is a reaction to the Ballina Coastline by photographer Ben Wyeth.

In essence it is about distilling the coastal landscape to its most basic component parts and exploring the relationship they share by using them as pieces within photographic compositions.

The four elements which make are up the majority of works within this series are: Pandanus, sea, sky and sand. Whilst the sky, sea and sand are largely ubiquitious to most coastal landscapes the pandan is a unique feature of our sub-tropical climate.

The use of long exposure’s give an abstract quality to the work and create an ethereal, dreamlike sense of wonder. Often devoid of human form they celebrate the natural, untouched beauty of this coastline.

“I would like to present the familiar back to both locals and visitors alike asking them to view it from a fresh perspective, as if seen for the first time.”  - Ben Wyeth

Launch Event: Thursday 21 July 2016  |  5.30pm - 7.30pm
