Imbi Davidson | The Palisades: Stories of the Mountain
20 January - 14 February 2016
The Palisades: Stories of the Mountain is an exhibition of new paintings by Imbi Davidson. The work explores a mythopoetic landscape of colour, shape and motion; unravelling mountainous stories embedded in the folds, depths and boundaries raging against storming skies.
The work ranges over the geometric contours of the landscape in juxtaposition with wild, emotional sky-scapes. It captures the tensions between the earth and sky, inner and outer, whilst finding linear points of intersection and connection.
Imbi has been a professional artist for over 15 years and has lived in the Northern Rivers region for four years. She received an Australian Post Graduate Award for her Masters Research The Casuarina Tree - Visual Translations of Native Plants in Australia and completed a Graduate Diploma in Education. Her recent solo exhibitions include; Tales of the Winds (2014), Unchartered Territories (2013), The Casuarina Tree (2013) and Lost At Sea (2009).
