SOSCERAMICS by Jacqui Sos is well known throughout the Northern Rivers region as being distinctive and unique. Using Raku and Obvara firing methods Jacqui can assure buyers that no two pots are ever the same. These alternative firing techniques never produce the same result and that is what is so intriguing.
The Obvara method uses only the natural ingredients of flour, yeast and water to burn into the surface of the pot creating spectacular organic patterns in browns and blacks.
SOSCERAMICS is also known for Raku and Jacqui specialises in “naked raku” a process which allows the glaze to peel off the pot leaving the naked clay patterned with a multitude of black smoke surface “cracks” – aptly described as “drawing with smoke”.
SOSCERAMICS also produces functional tableware using porcelain or stoneware clay. The plates cups and bowls produced are often altered from “boring round” to make captivating shapes. Each piece is truly unique.
